Caydie at Dance w/ Shannon
Not much went on over the weekend - little chilly and rainy so we were inside most of the time. Aunt Shannon took Miss Priss to dance class so I could get some highlights and other than that we were shut ins!

I thought I would do a different kind of post since we don't have much to update today. I am going to give some insight on my wonderful babies and what makes them so special and different.

Bennett: I love that boy! He has the most beautiful eyes and that smile will just get him anything he wants. He is the funniest kid ever - always wants to make everyone laugh. Budding con-artist when it comes to getting something he wants. If I had a dime for each times he says "how about this......" and then his big plan is revealed! There is something about your first born child..don't know how to explain it but it is true. Bennett is very funny with his "things" and he has many things. He likes to "collect" whatever has his attention at the moment. Once he has something he likes he thinks he needs EVERY one of them and as quickly as he has them he moves on to something new. He is always ready to go with his Dad. The two are inseparable! Two peas in a pod. He is a very thoughtful child. Always concerned about someone else and very willing to share whatever he has. Loves to meet new kids and make new friends. And the things he comes up with - I asked him this weekend what he was going to be when he grows up and he gives me this look like HELLO - he said I will be a teenager of course! My tender hearted little man - one of my great loves!

Caydie - My beautiful baby girl. I love her hazel eyes (just like her Dads) How you can have 2 kids with totally different personalities is beyond me but I have them. Caydie is heck on wheels! She is very much in charge and expects things to go her way. She will point that little finger at you and let you know in heartbeat when you have upset her. She is also the sweetest little angel ever. I love the way her face lights up any time she sees me and the way she puts her hands on both sides of your face when see kisses you. She is still a cuddler and will let me carry her around all day if I will. I love it when I sit beside her in the car and she tells me "closer Momma" and makes get as close to her seat as I can. I love watching her with her lovey - she talks so sweet to that thing and we have been known to walk around with lovey between while we each hold one hand. I love to hold her hand (Bennett is WAYYYY past letting me do that!) I love that she says I am her best friend.

Both of my babies bring me so much happiness (along with paitence, lack of sleep...) But they are my most important accomplishment and I am very proud of them. They are my heart!!

The Boys

Me and Caydie

Chris and the kids
Bennett's practice went well last night. Aside from a chin shot to the face and a twisted ankle - hehehe. He is excited about playing so we will see if he is any better at it this year! I asked before he left if he wanted me to fix him something eat and his response was "Woman don't you know a mans got to eat" Yes he did! Caydie and I hung out at house while the boys practiced. She was in a really good mood last night and spent her time chasing poor Cooper (our ShihTzu) up and down the hall with her shopping cart. I should have stopped her since she was scaring him to death but hey - everybody has to take one for the team at some point and last night was his turn since she was occupied and I was able to get some cleaning done!

Bennett was supposed to have a field trip to the Zoo today but it was canceled due to the weather. We are supposed to have storms coming through all day so they rescheduled the trip for sometime in April. I cannot believe he only has 2 more months of kindergarten!

Not much going on for the weekend - Caydie had dance tomorrow (Aunt Shannon is taking her so maybe we can con her into taking some pics and posting them). Bennett will have practice again. Other than that I am sure the weather will have us indoors.

Ohhh and Shannon and I have finally come up with a name for the little business we are trying to start - more to come on the later!!

Ladies man!

Playing dress up
I have been locked out my blog for over a week! You might ask how one gets locked out of their own blog?? That is just part of what makes me -me!! hahaha

The last picture that is posted is of Bennett and his "girl friend" Hannah from their play date at Aunt Shannon's.

Lets try to recap the past week or so.....

Bennett and Caydie were out of school last Friday so they went to Mom's Thursday night and stayed until Sunday. I was on Mommie-overload so I was ready for some down time. We went out with our BF's Friday night for dinner and had a blast. Not something we get to do very often so we really enjoy it when we do. Shannon and I went shopping Saturday morning and when I came home Chris was sick on the couch and pretty much spent the rest of the weekend there except when we went to pick the kids up Sunday afternoon. Always so much fun to pick the kids up and see how excited they are to see you after a few days!

Sunday night we had a first - Bennett hid his homework! Yep he decided that he did not want to stop playing his DS so he hid homework. Chris looked for it about 20 minutes before he asked Bennett if he had seen it and he fessed right up. Apparently since we did not ask him directly he didn't think he had to tell Chris where it was! The kid is a nut. He came home with his class picture Tuesday night (Shannon will post it for me tonight) wait until you see what the little ham did. It is definitely a keeper! He starts T-ball practice tonight if is not raining so we have a busy couple months coming up.

Miss Priss is doing great on the melatonin. It seems to really help her calm down and rest a lot easier so we will keep it up for the next couple of months and see if we can get her on a regular pattern. I cut her hair and she is now sporting a little short do! We have not had any more luck with hair bows so I figured why not make it easy for both of us. I am personally a fan of short hair! I will get a picture up here soon of her hair cut - I think she looks too cute! She is officially out of her braces and now has inserts in her shoes that we hope will do the job with her balance since the inserts are much easier to deal with (not to mention quite a bit cheaper!!) At least once a week Caydie is involved in an "incident" at school....and yes she is the aggressor. Her sensory issues tend to increase her fight response to situations and when she feels overloaded she will lash out. Well this week she pulled a stool out from under another kid which resulted in a busted lip......So not sure how to deal with that. My little Caydie bug....

And my big news of the day is that my favorite blooger -Mo Joy was back and running today! Anyone looking for a funny, uplifting blog that will make you feel good then she is for you!

Well that pretty much cover what we have been up too! I will get some pics loaded soon!

Parenting

I made a decision to try melatonin with Caydie. It had been mentioned to me some time ago but I was not at a point where a felt comfortable giving her anything. Her sleep has become a major issue of late and I know how I feel when I don't sleep well so my thought was that her lack of good sleep could be causing some of her....well we will just call them "moods"! She has slept soundly for the past three night and I am only giving her 1/2 the doage that was recommended. I have seen no side effects yet. It makes very uneasy to give her anything - kinda like I am counting on a pill to do my job for me. But I have honestly done everything I can do to help this girl sleep better. Time will tell I guess.

Bennett had a play date last night at Aunt Shannon's house. Aunt Shannon is the greatest. Who else would take 2 kids and let them get together at her house! Apparently Bennett & Hannah had a good time and Shannon has pics that I will try to get posted this weekend.

My Mom is in town today to take Caydie to PT and to get her new inserts for her shoes. She spent the night with us last night and slept with Caydie. Miss Priss was thrilled. I had to leave before the kids woke up this morning and Chris said she did not even ask where I was! Replaced so easily.....hahaha

We are back to cold weather so I am not sure what we will get into this weekend but we will enjoy our time together!

Bennett-ism for the night: I can't answer you right now because I can't think anymore today my brain is too big and full from school today.

Caydie - ism: Hold me so I can be tired on your shoulder.

We had a great weekend- Caydie had dance Saturday morning they are "training" very hard for their spring recital. Bennett who never leaves his Dad's side decided he wanted to go with me so it was nice to spend some time with just the two of us while Caydie was "dancing with the girls" as she calls it. After dance we took the kids to McDonalds for lunch and then to the park - it was so nice out. Bennett was disappointed that none of his friends were there but they had a good time anyway.

When we got home Bennett decided he wanted to go online to check on his neopet - Jub Jub. Apparently if you do not feed you pet on a regular basis they will starve to death (who knew!) We got to Jub Jub just in time - he was in the grips of death but we pulled him back with a jelly covered hot dog and a gravy covered potato. Now we have dial up that takes forever so bringing Jub Jub back happened over about a 4 hour period. While I am keeping watch at the computer Caydie was in the kitchen trying to get to something and was asking for help. I told Bennett to go see what she needed and this is how that played out: Caydie - help me Bubba. Bennett - what do you need Caydie because I have my own problems. Really? A six year old with problems! The kid is too funny!

Best part of the weekend? Caydie - who has sensory processing disorder - wore a hair bow to dance and then for a little yesterday too! Seems like a small thing to those of you who do not deal with SPD but is was HUGE!

Sunday we just spent around the house. Chris finished putting down hardwood in our bedroom last weekend so we moved everything back in and we have a room again. Which we enjoyed last night while we were watching celebrity apprentice!

Tonight is book fair family night at Bennett's school. Who knows what Bennett will be into but I know Miss Priss needs a new Fancy Nancy book (ok I like them too!)

Getting to know us

Since this is my first post I will tell you a little about us...

My husband, Chris, and I have been married for almost 12 years. We have 2 beautiful children, Bennett who is 6 & Caydie who is 3.

Chris and I both work outside of the home which makes for some busy evenings as all you working parents know so I started this blog as a way to keepsake the experiences and memories we are making along the way!

Today is Friday - although the kids were already out of school 3 days this week for snow! Snow last weekend and then 75 this weekend! Not much planned for this weekend. Miss Priss has dance class on Saturday mornings and Bennett has already requested a trip to the park - which I am sure he will get! Stay tuned for more excitement from the O'Briens!
